It's claimed the recession has changed people’s spending habits with one in six people saying they would now save up for things they want rather than using a credit card to buy them.
That's according to a study by PayPal which says that shoppers have also become more price aware, with nearly six in ten people saying they're more conscious of how much things cost and more than half claiming they've started bargain hunting.
It comes as Britain is claimed to be moving out of the recession, with news that the economy grew by 0.1 per cent during the lat three months of 2009.
PayPal UK Marketing Director Mark Hodson said "Although we're now technically out of the recession it's going to be some time before consumers start feeling better off and in the meantime we're likely to remain savvy shoppers.
