A survey that monitors the number of information security breaches suffered by UK businesses has found that threats to company data are on the rise.
However the report, which was prepared by PriceWaterhouseCoopers for Infosecurity Europe, also found that small businesses were now more aware of the need for IT security than in the past.
The study found that nearly three quarters of small businesses now assess the risk to their IT systems compared to less than half who did so two years ago.
It also found that the most important factor for most firms was protecting their customers data, followed by the need to avoid downtime and outages.
