Japan proposes holographic World Cup

Future World Cup finals could be filmed in holographic 3D with the matches replicated at stadiums around the world.

That's the science-fiction-like scenario that has recently been outlined by Kohzo Tashima, the CEO of Japan's 2022 World Cup bid.

He says that if the country wins the right to host the event then they'll film each match from 360 degrees using high definition cameras and record every sound made.

He then hinted that future technology could allow the match to be projected in three dimensions onto other pitches, giving the illusion that the match was happening there.

Japan has now dropped out of the race to host the 2018 World Cup, instead concentrating all its efforts to bring the 2022 event home instead.ADNFCR-2683-ID-19798210-ADNFCR
